Welcome to the Police Unity Riders Assocaition website!

The Police Unity Riders - AKA The Derailleurs - is comprised of Law Enforcement Officers from Delaware and Pennsylvania, who are committed to honoring those officers who have died in the line of duty. We do this by participating with Police Unity Tour, Inc., which aids in funding the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial.

HISTORY:

The NLEOMF was founded in 1983 by members of the United States Congress, who wanted to recognize the sacrifices made by all law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty. The NLEOMF was designed with the hope of honoring those officers as well as bringing awareness to the supreme sacrifices made by our brothers and sisters. In addition to the memorial and museum, the NLEOM is responsible for many other worthwhile projects and endeavors. While many of the events sponsored by the Memorial are ceremonial in nature, the work and efforts in the area of preventing future tragedies and fatalities in law enforcement is unequalled.

The Police Unity Tour was formed in 1997 by Officer Pat Montuore, now in 2008 the Chief of the Florham Park Police Department, New Jersey. His goals were to raise public awarness of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund (NLEOMF), to raise money for the Fund, and to honor those who had died in the line of duty.   

The Tour began with 18 officers who rode their police bicycles from Florham Park, NJ to Washington, D.C. (350 miles.) The officers raised $18,000 in pledges and donated all the money to the NLEOMF.  

In late 2005, the Police Unity Tour pledged $5 million in support of the National Law Enforcement Museum. Inspired by our commitment and our motto, "WE RIDE FOR THOSE WHO DIED" the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund has selected our organization to be the sponsor of the Museum's Hall of Remembrance.

In May 2008, over 1100 Police Unity Riders from agencies across the country rode their bikes to Washington, D.C.. They raised and donated $1.25 Million dollars to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund!!

Since 1997 the Police Unity Tour has raised and donated 5.6 million dollars to the Memorial Fund!!

They are the largest contributor to the NLEOMF. The Police Unity Tour has been able to do this because of the commitment of the officers, their families, and all the ANGELS who sponsor the riders.
